About Us

Mission and Vision

Mission

To celebrate and document the extraordinary achievements of Africans across the continent and the diaspora — both measurable feats and remarkable, unquantifiable acts of creativity, courage, and culture.
We exist to honor African excellence in all its forms, not through foreign validation, but by building a platform rooted in our own values, voices, and vision.

Vision

To become the most trusted and beloved record authority in Africa — a living archive where Africans define what greatness looks like, vote on what deserves recognition, and inspire future generations to dream beyond borders.
Through this, we aim to shift narratives, elevate homegrown talent, and prove to the world that our stories are worth telling — because they are ours.

Our Story

Why it was created

The idea for African People's Record was born not in a boardroom, but on the open road — in the dust, sweat, and wild joy of a solo journey across Africa.
It began with one woman, a Nigerian on a motorcycle, attempting to ride farther than any African woman had ever ridden alone across the continent. Her mission was bold, driven by the desire to show what was possible. But when she submitted her feat to a global record institution, her application was rejected. Not because it wasn't impressive — but because, in their words, it wasn't "measurable enough."

That rejection sparked something deeper: a realization that the world isn't always built to honor our stories — not the way we tell them, not in the way they happen, and certainly not in the spirit of who we are.
So instead of begging for a seat at their table, we decided to build our own.

A record of us, by us, for us.

African People's Record was created to recognize and celebrate the kinds of greatness that global institutions often overlook — the quiet genius, the homemade brilliance, the fearless firsts, the culturally rooted excellence. Some of these achievements can be measured, like the longest journey or the fastest time. Others can only be felt — like a young boy building a Lamborghini out of cardboard, or a grandmother preserving centuries-old stories through song.
This platform exists because Africa deserves an archive that sees us. That believes us. That celebrates us. And we're just getting started.

Defining Greatness

Notable vs Measurable Records

At African People's Record, we believe greatness doesn't only show up in numbers — it lives in stories, in impact, in the spark it lights in others.

01.
Measurable Records

are exactly that — achievements that can be counted, timed, or verified with data. The highest jump. The fastest run. The farthest ride.

02.
Notable Records

are different. They're the firsts. The fearless. The deeply personal. The kind of records that can't always be clocked with a stopwatch, but leave a mark on the soul.

Whether it's a grandmother who taught hundreds to read using only chalk and sand, or a teenager who turned a backyard into a sustainable farm — these acts matter. And they deserve to be remembered.

Because sometimes, the most powerful records aren't the ones you measure. They're the ones you feel.
